OLD LADY

So I am a regular customer at the good old 7-11 by my work, so good in fact that I know the workers by name. Well usually I walk over there from work to get my morning protein bar, but because of the snow today I drove.

When I got there an unnamed worker asked me what a 35 year old lady like me was doing driving a Ford Mustang...he then said that's not right!

Well here are the facts...I am not even close to turning 35, but I do drive like an old lady...not going to lie. Anyhow I am now looking for A-) a good plastic surgeon, or B-) some kind of young juice. Does anyone know somebody that might know somebody...I need numbers.

Anyhow I guess I am just going to give myself the nickname of great grandma and join the adopt a grandparent program now, to stop any future humiliation. I will be checking in with my dentist to ask about dentures, and even buy a book bag that has wheels that you can drag.

BOYS TAKE NOTES!

So after work today a cool guy in my ward asked me if he could drop something off. I was surprised with flowers that he had home grown. All I can say is that it is so refreshing to know that there are still good gentleman like guys out there in the world. Totally made my Friday a good Friday!

OH NINE!

So my blogging abilities in '09 have been somewhat lacking....somewhat meaning quite a bit, so I thought I would update all my peeps on whats going on in the life of Yelyah's Corner.

Probably the coolest thing I have done this year is sleep in a cave. This was so much fun! My friend Matt and Rachel invited me to come on this amazing adventure. Matt brought his projector, and we watched movies all night! We also slept in till noon, because the cave was so dark that we really didn't have much concept of time.
I also found out that I am terrified of Mountain Lions. I kept waking up all night and whispering to Brandon asking him if he heard that sound that sounded like some kind of animal...I think he was annoyed, and I was very much paranoid. Luckily I survived the could of been attacks by the Mountain Lions, because they left us alone, and we were safe!
Anyhow the cave was pretty cold, and we were all pretty dirty when it was all said and done, but it was so so much fun!

My first big accomplishment is I overcame my addiction to Diet Dr. Pepper. I have not had one for over 2 months, and I am feeling so amazing. I have been an addict for years, drinking a Super Big Gulp every day! Anyhow I am finally sleeping at night, and I actually drink water now which they say you should do!

My 2nd accomplishment of '09 is that I have lost about 23 pounds this year. I am getting super excited to start running outside, playing tennis, and going hiking! woot woot!

Other exciting facts of 2009

- I have watched Twilight 9 times (This is a combined total from 2008- 2009)

- I spent New Years Day in Disneyland

- I bought Brandie Carlile tickets for April 20th!

- I have saved over $1000 this year

- I finally got long train in ticket to ride-this is the only game we play when I go home and my Dad is brutal!

- I bowled a high of 177 this year!

- I work with the Aunt of Megan Corkery from American Idol, and I know what song she is singing next week. :)

-I got origami flowers for Valentines Day! Very cool!
- I bought a piano from my Grandma
- I currently could live off my food storage for probably 2-3 months- need more water though!
-I got a new guitar student- She is 13 years old, and can sing, play guitar, write her own
music...she will be performing at places near you soon!
-My little brother will be home from his mission in about 23 days! That is the best news of all!
Anyhow I am running out of facts, because I really don't lead that exciting of a life in the Winter months. Happy St. Pa tricks Day everyone!

BITTERSWEET!

This week I have been preparing for tryouts for the Bittersweet Bluegrass band! Well as I was preparing an original song, I got a blasted cold. I was cursing without swear words, and was contemplating weather or not I should even give it a go. But today as I was cruising around in my Mustang with the top down for the first time this year(yay for warm weather) I decided that I have 3 choices...

#1- I can either tryout and not make it!

#2- tryout and make it!

#3- not tryout and not make it.

Anyhow I decided to tryout, and I think it went pretty good. The girls invited me to comeback to their Thursday practice, and gave me directions to go buy the Bluegrass music book. My assignment is to learn the "Old Chuck Hen" solo, and to bring it to practice. The only thing they were worried about was how I usually finger pick instead of using a pick. I am new to this whole Bluegrass genera, so for the next little while I am going to force myself to play with a pick.

So I am not sure if I made the band or not, but considering they invited me to come to their practice it is hopeful. The girls are so talented, amazing, and they all have gorgeous instruments! One cool thing is that if I get in the band we will be performing at Thanksgiving point in April, and also have an all expense paid trip to Alberta, Canada. Another cool thing is that the band only does paid gigs...something I have never even dreamed about doing.

Anyhow I am really excited, because I am such a country girl and I love the sound of bluegrass! Wish me luck!
