So I just bought an upright piano from my grandma, and it definitely looks like a grandma piano...I really want to spruce it up, by painting it red! When I googled red piano's this is what I found! It definitely defines my piano vision, and I love it! Does anyone know how to go about a project like this? I really don't want to screw it up!

That sounds like a big project, but I can help. I have painted a lot of furniture ect. We will chat at work.
If you want a quality job done on it, it can be kind of a project. First I would get a some paint and lacquer stripper to remove all the old finish. Then I would get a belt sander and a palm sander and sand everything down smooth starting with a coarse grit paper and move to finer. During the coarse grit sanding I would also recommend filling any dents or anything with so wood fill. Then sand it all out.
Next is the tricky part. It is very difficult to paint wood by hand without leaving brush strokes and irregularities so it is best to find someone who has a paint sprayer. Mask everything off with tape and plastic or paper (Including yourself). Then spray away. You may want to do a couple coats.
Oh and don't expect to be using your garage for a while, unless you have a workshop. Sounds like a fun project.
